Why on earth did I decide to start a blog?
Memories always fade. You think you will have them forever, but they won’t always stick.
— My Mom
So… here we are. On a blog. That I have made. For myself. If you would have asked 18-year-old Amelia her thoughts on the matter, she would have rolled her eyes and told you
“There is NO way that I would ever do something like that!”
But, I was finally convinced by some wise words from my mother. She explained to me, after I retold her a story about one wild night from college, that even though my memories seem so vibrant and present in my mind right now, that won’t always be the case.
Someday, I will want to look back on all of the fun times that I have had, and the places and faces will have faded with time.
So, the blog.
I am making this as a space to record the ins and outs of my life over the next, well, while (because who knows where I will be in a year, or 5). Contained in this website it will no doubt be travel blogs, food blogs, lifestyle blogs. A whole variety of experiences; really, anything and everything that sparks joy in my life (a great lesson from Marie Kondo that I will never let go of).
Follow along, if you like, as I take my first (giant) leap into adulthood! For the next year, give or take a few weeks, I will be living in Seoul, South Korea and working as an English teacher for middle and high school students. After that…
Well, that’s where the real fun begins doesn’t it?
Amelia, I think I am old-fashioned, but I like to subscribe to blogs on Feedly. Yours does not register, and I’m wondering if you need to add something like an RSS feed thingie for that to work. Feedly serves like a magazine that I can go to when I have time and read all updated blog posts. That way they don’t get lost in my email and also I don’t have to search out each one individually. Can you help? I don’t want to miss a word or a post!
